Sustainability

Pittsfield Village is committed to building a resilient community that prioritizes the health, safety, and long-term viability of all residents. We face real challenges—localized flooding, aging infrastructure systems, and conservation of resources—that require thoughtful, sustainable solutions. As stewards of our environment, we recognize that our local actions contribute to broader efforts to address climate change and global warming. We embrace our responsibility to adopt measures and align our practices to help keep our planet a home that can sustain life in all its richness and diversity.

Our sustainability efforts focus on practical measures that benefit our community while supporting environmental health:

  • Partnering with the City on A2Zero: Pittsfield Village is collaborating formally with Ann Arbor's Office of Sustainability and Innovations to become one of Ann Arbor's first carbon-neutral neighborhoods, working together toward the City's goal of community-wide carbon neutrality by 2030
  • Managing water sustainably: Adopting water management practices to control flooding and to do our part in keeping our waters clean and safe for drinking, bathing, swimming, and fishing
  • Caring for our landscape: Adopting best practices in the maintenance and renewal of our residential landscaping
  • Supporting our community engagement: Supporting resident-led sustainability efforts, encouraging participation in our broader community initiatives, and providing information and resources that empower neighbors to take environmental action

This work is guided by the belief that a thriving community depends on both a healthy environment and strong, inclusive systems that serve everyone. Environmental considerations are central to every decision we make.
